Smiling...It's Good for What Ails You!

Smiling…It’s Good for What Ails You!

How many times have people asked, “Why are you always smiling?”  In fact, that made me smile as I typed the words!  Have you tried it?  Smiling is a powerful tool for bringing joy to your heart–it is a mood changer!

When we were growing up (actually, in high school), I remember my brother telling me that people thought I was too friendly.  As an adult, I’ve had people ask my friends, “Is she for real?”  I wonder why it is so surprising to people that someone can be a genuinely happy and friendly person.  I suppose it’s indicative of society

  • hurried
  • self-centered
  • afraid of interaction.

I challenge you as you read this to smile.
In fact, I’ll help you out.

Have a day that is good, kind, and full of smiles.

Someone out there is in desperate need of your smile, and the benefits to you are huge!

Think I’m the only one who believes in the power of a smile?  I’m not…check these pages to see what “real professionals” have to say!  Want to be healthy?  Smile!

You are so right!!! I’ve been smiling all morning (well, it’s only 7:16) because I’m looking through lots of great pictures in my Picasa files. Thanks for the encouragement!

I sure do love you! Thanks for reading, commenting, and most especially…loving me!

  3. You are so right, Ms. Steen! For so long, I took smiling for granted. And then, I got Bell’s Palsy, and half my face was paralyzed for 3 months. The only thing I wanted to do was smile. I think that was supposed to be a lesson for me–to smile more and appreciate the effects it had on myself and others. Now when I smile and laugh, I think about that, and how dark I felt not being able to express joy on my face. It makes me appreciate it that much more! Great post! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Krista, I remember that Bernie had that same thing happen to him not long before we met. He was looking pretty normal by the time I met him, though. I love your comment “How dark I felt not being able to express joy on my face.” Some people have the ability, yet choose to remain in that darkness. Thanks for reading!
